Community Partners

Des Moines Vision Center is committed to providing quality eyecare for the residents of Des Moines and the surrounding communities. We are very grateful to work in partnership with several local organizations to ensure that all people have access to the care they need to maximize their vision potential and protect their eye health.

DES MOINES LION'S CLUB
In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." Today, sight programs remain one of their defining causes.

We are proud partners of the Des Moines branch of the Lion's Club of Washington State. We accept referrals from the Lion's Club vision coordinator and local school nurses to provide free eye exams and glasses to the neediest members of our community. The costs of this program are subsidized by the Lion's Club of Des Moines.

GLASSES RECYCLING
Our office accepts donations of used glasses for the Lion's Club Lions Recycle for Sight program. These glasses are distributed to people in developing countries. If you have an old pair of glasses you are no longer using, please consider donating them to this wonderful organization.

SCHOOL NURSES
Over 80 percent of what a child learns in school is presented visually. That's why it is vital for each student to have the best vision possible while in the classroom. To help make this possible, Des Moines Vision Center has assembled and distributed optical kits to the nurses at local schools. These kits include supplies for glasses repair and cleaning, as well as extra contact lens solution and cases.

Due to the COVID virus we are operating with limited hours and staff. We are requiring ALL patient transactions be done by appointment only. This includes exams, ordering/picking up eyewear, and glasses repairs and adjustments. Please contact our office to schedule or for more information.
